Galápagos - part 2

Have now finished my time volunteering for Jatun Sacha. Hopefully all the time spent macheteing, digging holes, and planting trees will pay off. Will have to go back some time to see how all the new trees are faring.

Since the last blog update, I completed my diving course but so far haven't had the chance to go on a 'real' dive. Also went on a four day trip to visit some of the other islands (including Isabela). Did lots of snorkelling on this (most of it not too great but did get to see loads of fish and a couple of boobies diving into the water right by me at Floreana), went horse riding up to the crater rim of the Sierra Negra volcano, and saw Lonesome George on Santa Cruz. Sierra Negra was really spectacular. Isabela is one of the youngest of the islands and still volcanically active (last eruption was late 2005). This means that the lava flows haven't been colonised by plants yet and the landscape is really strange but fascinating.
